Patriots Cheating Debate Gate: No Super Bowl Punishment. The New England Patriots were found to have deflated 11 of 12 balls used in the 2015 AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Pats won 45 to 7. The ball problem was discovered after the game and confirmed by the NFL on Tuesday. Some have said the Pats should be disqualified. But an NFL team executive told me that was not going to happen. "No. If the league significantly impacted Pats SB chanced it'd be viewed as excessive punishment. Also risk of being viewed as punishing Pats for past bad deeds for which they were already punished." Stay tuned.
