Star Wars Comes Home for Episode VII.

Last week Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars Episode VII will be filmed in the UK, the place where the majority of the original Star Wars film entitled, 'A New Hope' was filmed back in 1976. The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were also filmed in London when not on location. The actual studio or studio's have not yet been named but rumours are that Pinewood Studio's is the favourite to land the majority of the filming.
In a statement, Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm president, said: "We've devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of Star Wars as inspiration for our process on the new movie, and I'm thrilled that returning to the UK for production and utilising the incredible talent there can be a part of that."

JJ Abrams has been confirmed as director and Michael Arndt is on board as writer, George Lucas will assume the role of creative consultant even after he sold Lucasfilm to Disney last year.

The new film is still awaiting an official title, although that is expected to be announced in the coming months and stars of the original trilogy are strongly rumoured to be reprising their roles as the film is supposedly set some 30 years after the events of Episode 6 Return of the Jedi.

Those Stars include Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels who himself has appeared in all six of the Star Wars films made so far.

The film is due for release in the summer of 2015.
